Concertino for solo clarinet and clarinet chor, op. 26, by Carl Maria von Webern
Carl Maria von Weber; Arranged by Bartolomé Genestar
Carl Maria von Weber (1786–1826) was one of the founders of the clarinet repertoire. For those of us who love this instrument, his works are a reference point. The score we present is an example of making music ‘as a family’, as the arrangement of the Concertino Op. 26 for solo clarinet and clarinet choir was born out of a personal project by Tolo Genestar for the IV Clarinet Course Island of Menorca (to which this arrangement is dedicated). The goal was to work on clarinet ensemble, the study of related instruments, and above all, to culminate the course by performing together a piece that most students have studied at some time. Along with the arranger, we believe music should be shared. Listening to a family of clarinets performing like an orchestra is an uplifting experience that fills one with joy and pride in loving this magnificent instrument.
Independent parts for solo clarinet, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th clarinets, Eb clarinet, alto clarinet in Eb, basset horn, and bass clarinet are included.
