Ecos de catedral
Carlos Arturo Guerra and Lucie Žáková, organ
The musical proposal presented here can be interpreted as a virtual tour through the music of the organs in Cuenca Cathedral: from the choir, with its impressive twin organs by Julián de la Orden from 1770, through the cloister to the Holy Spirit chapel, which contains the organ by Francisco Molero from 1799. Then, we move on to the ambulatory to enjoy the harmonium by H. Christophe and Étienne, concluding the musical experience in the choir.
However, the space is not the only dimension that inspires this work. It is also a journey through time. Beginning in 1807 with the first work for two organs preserved in the cathedral's musical records, by Francisco Olivares, we go back in time to explore musical landmarks that have been important in the history of this cathedral's organs, and we end in 1879 with the most recent work for two organs preserved in the records, by Pedro Martínez.
La selección de piezas se ha realizado pensando en una variedad de estilos, sin encerrarlas únicamente en el contexto español, aunque este predomine. Escucha un fragmento: Pedro Martínez — Concierto de 8.º tono para dos órganos (1879)
