El sonido de las emociones. Works for guitar by Mateo Arnáiz
This book contains the scores from the homonymous album published by Dos Acordes: nine original compositions exploring human emotions and their expression through the guitar. First, there are three pieces focused on emotional states, each with a dedication: Namorados is a caprice composed in 2013 and dedicated to Silvia Guntín. Vals nostálgico is a tribute to guitarist Roland Dyens, whose work inspired this project. Nova, dedicated to Anaís, is inspired by the explosion of doubts and hopes that the birth of a new life implies.
Secondly, two works grouped under the title Estampas marinas represent the emotional states of those living in close connection with the sea. Tiempo de tormenta, with a rhythmic structure reminiscent of the muiñeira (a traditional Galician dance), delves into the agitation and fear before the storm, while Calma chicha recreates a reflective walk along the beach.
Suite emocional seeks to portray the four basic human emotions and their contradictions. Alegrías and Aires de Tango Triste draw inspiration from traditional rhythms, while La Rabbia and ‘Ostinato’ of fear, develop repetitive pattern.
El sonido de las emociones is an album offering a distinctive sound created in a suggestive setting. Guitarist Mateo Arnáiz recorded ten pieces at the Monastery of Santa María de Monfero (A Coruña), exploring human emotions, from love to the sea, fear, and the birth of a new life. Filmmaker Dani López complements the project with the DVD The Stone’s Secrets, showcasing the album's conception and recording process, alongside a reflection on nature through a lens of respect and thoughtfulness.
