Musical Dictations: Two Voices with Real Instrument Timbres
Through this collection of two-voice dictations, students will be able to improve their ear and their ability to transcribe polyphonic fragments. Beyond its utility in Music Theory and Aural Skills classes in music schools and conservatories of music, it is especially valuable as supplementary material or for self-study. The dictations are recorded using real instrument timbres, offering students a richer auditory experience compared to the typical reliance on piano alone.
This approach helps students become familiar with a diverse range of timbres, progressively training them to identify and distinguish these sounds. The work is divided into three sections of increasing difficulty. Each section begins with combinations of timbres from different instrumental families and concludes with voices featuring similar timbres. The recognition of each voice’s timbre is one of the key objectives of this work.
