Nocturno Vigo: Para viola e piano
Reveriano Soutullo
Viola transcription: Javier Jurado
The study of the score of 'Nocturno for violin and piano' of the orchestra suite about Galician songs called 'Vigo', which we edited with a shortened name, shows Soutollo used in this piece materials from his suite for band. It was composed around 1910 and premiered in the Royal Theatre in Madrid on February 1911. These were the starting point for his Galician traditions zarzuela, 'Amores de aldea', later revised under the title 'Ave que deja su nido'. It premiered in in Madrid in 1915. In an unknown date, Soutollo took from this score a homonymous suite for band. The script and individual parts are preserved, after being found in the files of the Banda Municipal de Vigo by the researchers of the Fundación Reveriano Soutollo Otero.
