Música e músicos en Ortigueira

Xabier Garrote Cobelo compiles the results of an extensive classification work and historiographic study of the materials preserved in musical archive of the group Garrote from Ortigueira. He focuses on their historic role and the role three musicians of the same family - which is intimately linked to Galicia’s musical history - José María, Manuel and Andrés Garrote, played on this region. The essay includes documented references about many of the musicians who wrote the history of music bands in Ortigueira, with notable contributions by scholars Xosé Carlos Breixo and Alejo Amoedo. We should note that this is only a small part of the numerous lines of research this work opens.
